Prior to founding Cathay Insights, Lorenzo collaborated with international trade firms to establish technology supply partnerships between European and Chinese entities in the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, South America, South East Asia, and Greater China.

He holds an MSc in Finance & Development and a BA in Economics and Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, SOAS, University of London.

Lorenzo speaks English, Italian, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and splits his time between London and Beijing.

Rome - Osaka

Specialises in devising creative strategies to gather and analyse primary and secondary data in opaque information environments.

He has provided data-driven strategic advice to companies and research institutes engaged in collaborations in Mainland China and Japan.

Beyond academia, Georg serves as a strategic interpreter in delicate negotiations across various sectors, including hi-tech, chem-tech, energy, machinery, and agri-food.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Xiamen and a Master’s degree from Beijing Normal University, both earned entirely in Chinese.

Georg is fluent in English, Italian, French, and Mandarin Chinese, with an advanced level of proficiency in several other languages, including Japanese. He splits his time between Rome and Osaka.
